Meet the Doctors – Adiska Family Dental

Dr. Gary Adiska

I started my career in engineering and management, where I worked for several years before deciding to enter the dental field. A few of my close friends were always commenting on how much they loved their careers in dentistry, encouraging me to make the switch. As it turns out, dentistry was a perfect fit. I have been known to be quite a talker and enjoy making connections with my patients, while improving their oral health. I am very excited about the latest technological advances in dentistry and continue to make sure the practice is always offering the latest and greatest in modern dentistry. I have been very active in the communities we serve, including coaching, teaching Sunday School, organizing a junior golf league, and helping young people in general. I am very lucky to be able to work with my daughter Dr. Heather, my best friend Dr. Mark, and some of the best team members a person could ask for. We have a lot of fun working together and I hope that feeling is infectious to those that enter our office.

I pursued my career at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. I graduated in 1986 and started the dental practice in downtown Stockbridge, later expanding the practice to Pinckney in 2009, Manchester in 2014, and Owosso in 2015. I am a current member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and pursue many hours of continuing education.

In my spare time, I enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and boating.

Dr. Heather M. Adiska

I enrolled into dental school after truly seeing just how much my father loved his career and the people he served. I thought, if I could even have half as much enjoyment from my career that he does, I would still be doing quite well. After years of working side-by-side with each other, we often joke about who has the better job–we both LOVE it! I was born and raised in the Stockbridge area and continue to call it home with my daughter, Elliya. I am very excited about the many advances in dentistry and pride myself on trying to conquer dental fear in patients of all ages. I strongly believe that everyone deserves a winning smile, whether you are 1 or 100 years old. I have a special interest in cosmetic dentistry as well as working with children.

I attended Northern Michigan University from 1997 to 2001, majoring in Physiology under the pre-dental program. From there, I attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After graduating in May 2005, I have been a full time practitioner at Adiska Family Dental and a member of the American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association.

In my spare time, I enjoy walks through the woods, golfing and spending time with my family.

Dr. Mark Potocki

As a child, I loved to work with my hands building things. I built go-karts, mini bikes, bicycles, anything I could get my hands on. My interests in school were always in the sciences and when I graduated from the University of Michigan, I had planned on going to medical school (thinking this was a great way to blend the two). The problem was, I didn’t initially get accepted and when I was deciding how to move forward, I became a teacher. During my short time as a teacher, I had a good friend who was in dental school and he encouraged me to apply. I was accepted and have been very thankful for the way such fateful events in my life brought me to this wonderful profession. After dental school, I joined the Air Force, later practicing in Perry, MI for over 20 years before joining Adiska Family Dental in 2010. My wife, Lila and I have three children. My two sons, Jon and Brian, are also dentists and commisioned officers in the Army and Air Force. Someday I hope to practice with them. My main interests in dentistry include implant placement, root canal treatment, difficult restorative cases and surgical extractions of wisdom teeth. I love knowing that these procedures can greatly improve a person’s quality of life and that I had a hand in that.

I am a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.

When I am not in the dental office, I enjoy playing ice hockey, running, fishing and just being active.

Dr. Amy Akasheh

I was born and raised in Macomb, MI and come from a large family. I had an interest in dentistry after being a patient in my sister’s chair. In 2013, I attended the University of Detroit Mercy for my undergraduate studies in biology. In 2020, I graduated with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry (Go Blue!). I strive to stay up to date on the latest dental literature and am always excited to learn more about the newest technologies. I am affiliated with the Academy of General Dentistry. When I’m not at the office, I enjoy hiking, golfing, and tennis. I got my eye for detail from being a cake artist, and I feel like a lot of my skills from decorating cross over into dentistry.

Dr. Kayla Myers

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a dentist. My grandmother told me when I was little that in order to be the tooth-fairy, you had to be a dentist first. I am still hoping that works out, but thankfully, I have been overwhelmingly grateful for this career path. I grew up in the small thumb town of Lexington, MI, and after graduating from The University of Michigan with my DDS degree, I knew I wanted to return to a small town to provide care. I am passionate about not only the art of dentistry but providing a public service to the community. In the office, I provide comprehensive and cosmetic care to all ages and have often been recognized for relieving dental anxieties. At home, I enjoy cooking, baking, and spending time with my husband and two huskies. My team and I appreciate your confidence in us, and we truly look forward to meeting you!

Dr. Jaslynn Kalsi

I was born and raised in Central Florida, just outside of Orlando. I attended the University of Florida for my undergraduate education, where I received my Bachelor of Biology degree. I was initially pursuing medicine, but after exploring the field of dentistry I decided that it aligned with my interests more. Looking back, this was one of the best choices I’ve made – I was lucky enough to find a career that allowed me to establish strong connections with patients, spend days doing detail-oriented work and helping improve people’s quality of life.

I decided to move a bit further north for dental school, a move that I still get quite a few questions about (usually “Why?”). I attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2017. After graduation, I moved to Toledo to work in a private practice for one year, and then tried to move back home to Florida. It turns out I am much better suited to Michigan life, so I moved back and began working for Dr. Adiska in August of 2022.

In my spare time, I’m usually found snuggling up with my beagle, Luna. When she has enough of my attention, I fill my time with painting, calligraphy, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
