Meet the Doctors – Adiska Family Dental
Dr. Gary Adiska
I started my career in engineering and management, where I worked for several years before deciding to enter the dental field. A few of my close friends were always commenting on how much they loved their careers in dentistry, encouraging me to make the switch. As it turns out, dentistry was a perfect fit. I have been known to be quite a talker and enjoy making connections with my patients, while improving their oral health. I am very excited about the latest technological advances in dentistry and continue to make sure the practice is always offering the latest and greatest in modern dentistry. I have been very active in the communities we serve, including coaching, teaching Sunday School, organizing a junior golf league, and helping young people in general. I am very lucky to be able to work with my daughter Dr. Heather, my best friend Dr. Mark, and some of the best team members a person could ask for. We have a lot of fun working together and I hope that feeling is infectious to those that enter our office.
I pursued my career at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. I graduated in 1986 and started the dental practice in downtown Stockbridge, later expanding the practice to Pinckney in 2009, Manchester in 2014, and Owosso in 2015. I am a current member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and pursue many hours of continuing education.
In my spare time, I enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and boating.
Dr. Heather M. Adiska
I enrolled into dental school after truly seeing just how much my father loved his career and the people he served. I thought, if I could even have half as much enjoyment from my career that he does, I would still be doing quite well. After years of working side-by-side with each other, we often joke about who has the better job–we both LOVE it! I was born and raised in the Stockbridge area and continue to call it home with my daughter, Elliya. I am very excited about the many advances in dentistry and pride myself on trying to conquer dental fear in patients of all ages. I strongly believe that everyone deserves a winning smile, whether you are 1 or 100 years old. I have a special interest in cosmetic dentistry as well as working with children.
I attended Northern Michigan University from 1997 to 2001, majoring in Physiology under the pre-dental program. From there, I attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After graduating in May 2005, I have been a full time practitioner at Adiska Family Dental and a member of the American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association.
In my spare time, I enjoy walks through the woods, golfing and spending time with my family.
Dr. Mark Potocki
As a child, I loved to work with my hands building things. I built go-karts, mini bikes, bicycles, anything I could get my hands on. My interests in school were always in the sciences and when I graduated from the University of Michigan, I had planned on going to medical school (thinking this was a great way to blend the two). The problem was, I didn’t initially get accepted and when I was deciding how to move forward, I became a teacher. During my short time as a teacher, I had a good friend who was in dental school and he encouraged me to apply. I was accepted and have been very thankful for the way such fateful events in my life brought me to this wonderful profession. After dental school, I joined the Air Force, later practicing in Perry, MI for over 20 years before joining Adiska Family Dental in 2010. My wife, Lila and I have three children. My two sons, Jon and Brian, are also dentists and commisioned officers in the Army and Air Force. Someday I hope to practice with them. My main interests in dentistry include implant placement, root canal treatment, difficult restorative cases and surgical extractions of wisdom teeth. I love knowing that these procedures can greatly improve a person’s quality of life and that I had a hand in that.
I am a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
When I am not in the dental office, I enjoy playing ice hockey, running, fishing and just being active.
Dr. Zachary Pyles
I began my higher education at Eastern Michigan University, which I attended primarily for the opportunity to wrestle at the Division 1 level and gain an education. I received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 2003. I worked as a chemist before starting dental school, and I graduated in 2008 from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. I knew fairly early that dentistry would be a good profession for me. I had a great childhood dentist who had a big influence on me, as well as a love for relationships with people and a love for creating art with my hands. My career has led me to work here at Adiska Family Dental, and I feel lucky to be here. I am surrounded by a hard-working and friendly group here in Owosso, and get great support from Gary and his staff. We offer excellent full spectrum dental care, and welcome new patients.
In my spare time, I enjoy canoeing with my wife Linda, fishing, watching movies, and many other things. I’ve decided I had better enjoy working on my house, which is a work in progress under serious renovation since last fall.
Dr. Amanda Dugan
As the daughter of two Michigan dental graduates, I grew up learning and watching my parents build a wonderful dental practice. My parent’s love for dentistry and their care for patients was something I loved watching growing up. We often spent our family summer vacations in Sterling Heights visiting my grandparents and loving Michigan summers to the fullest.
I was born in the Midwest but grew up in Northern Virginia. I began my higher education in Charlottesville, VA at the University of Virginia with a double major in Biochemistry and Biology. It was there I found a new love for dentistry as my own when working at the Free Dental Clinic and serving the underprivileged. My love for art and medicine combined with my passion to serve, and I pursued a career in dentistry. I enrolled in dental school at University of Maryland Baltimore School of Dentistry. I then pursued a General Practice Residency at the University of Michigan Hospital where I specialized in medically complex cases as well as treating people of all ages and types. I am a member of the American Dental Association and Michigan Dental Association. My career has led me to Adiska Family Dental and I am blessed and grateful to be able to serve the Pinckney, Manchester and Stockbridge population. Our incredible staff and myself are excited and ready to serve our wonderful patients and their families with our individualized and comprehensive care.
